Terms & Conditions

Last updated: May 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to all work carried out by Ollie Edward Services (“we”, “us”, “our”) for customers (“you”, “your”).

We aim to provide a professional, reliable and fair service. These terms explain how we work, what we need from customers, and how we deal with any concerns if something does not go as planned.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or limits any legal rights you may have as a consumer.

1. Quotations and Scope of Work

1.1 Our quotation will set out the work we have agreed to carry out, together with any materials, labour, equipment and estimated timescales included.

1.2 Quotations are valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise.

1.3 Quotations are based on the information available at the time, including site visits, photographs, measurements, customer instructions and visible site conditions.

1.4 Any work not specifically included within the quotation is excluded unless agreed in writing.

1.5 If hidden defects, unsafe conditions, additional work, access issues, unsuitable existing materials, unforeseen ground conditions, drainage issues, structural issues or other matters are discovered once work begins, we will explain this to you and provide a price for any additional work before proceeding where reasonably possible.

1.6 Verbal instructions, text messages, WhatsApp messages, emails, photographs and site discussions may form part of the agreed scope where they clearly confirm work requested or approved.

2. Acceptance of Quotation

2.1 You accept these Terms & Conditions by accepting our quotation in writing, approving it by message or email, paying a deposit, booking a date, or instructing us to begin work.

2.2 We recommend that you read these Terms & Conditions before accepting a quotation. A copy is available on our website and can be supplied on request.

2.3 By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit, booking a date or instructing us to begin work, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

3. Deposits and Payments

3.1 Deposits may be required to secure a booking date, order materials, hire equipment or allocate labour.

3.2 Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of the work.

3.3 For larger jobs, staged payments may be agreed in advance and shown on the quotation or invoice.

3.4 Materials, hired equipment, parking charges, delivery charges, disposal charges, machine hire, mileage and additional agreed works may be charged separately where stated in the quotation or agreed with you.

3.5 We reserve the right to charge reasonable interest and recovery costs on overdue invoices in line with applicable law.

4. Access, Utilities and Customer Responsibilities

4.1 You must provide safe and reasonable access to the work area at the agreed time.

4.2 You are responsible for ensuring that pets, children, vehicles, garden furniture, valuables, ornaments, plants and other items are kept clear of the working area unless we agree otherwise.

4.3 You must tell us about any known hazards before work begins, including fragile surfaces, concealed cables, pipes, drains, asbestos, unstable structures, alarm systems, restricted access, underground services or other risks.

4.4 Where water or electricity is required, you agree to provide reasonable access unless agreed otherwise.

4.5 Delays caused by lack of access, unavailable utilities, unsafe conditions, inaccurate information, restricted parking or customer changes may result in additional charges or a rearranged visit.

5. Weather, Delays and Events Outside Our Control

5.1 Some work cannot be carried out safely or to a suitable standard in poor weather, including heavy rain, high winds, freezing conditions or extreme temperatures.

5.2 We may postpone work where weather or site conditions make it unsafe or likely to affect the quality of the result.

5.3 We will aim to rearrange work as soon as reasonably possible.

5.4 We are not liable for delays caused by weather, supplier delays, illness, equipment breakdown, traffic disruption, material shortages or other events outside our reasonable control.

6. Existing Condition and Pre-Existing Defects

6.1 We take reasonable care when carrying out work. However, we cannot be responsible for pre-existing damage, age-related deterioration, hidden defects, poor previous workmanship, rotten timber, loose render, defective seals, brittle plastics, weakened gutters, damaged roofs, blocked underground drainage, unstable paving, damaged brickwork or other issues that were present before work began.

6.2 Cleaning, washing, repair work or removal of existing materials can reveal pre-existing defects that were previously hidden by dirt, moss, staining, paint, debris, vegetation, sealant or previous repairs.

6.3 Where we identify an issue before or during work, we will notify you where reasonably possible.

7. Customer-Approved Choices, Samples and Visual Appearance

7.1 Where a customer selects or approves a product, material, colour, style, size, finish, layout, gate, fence, paving, slab, block, cladding, fascia, guttering, door, timber product or other visible item, that selection forms part of the agreed scope of work.

7.2 Photographs, brochures, supplier images, samples and computer-generated images are intended as a guide only. Colours, texture, pattern, grain, shade and overall appearance may vary due to lighting, weather, manufacturing batches, natural materials, surrounding surfaces and the age or condition of existing materials.

7.3 Before ordering materials or beginning installation, we may ask the customer to confirm their chosen product, style, colour, size, position and layout in writing.

7.4 Once materials have been ordered, cut, fitted or installed, changes requested by the customer may be treated as a variation and charged accordingly.

7.5 A change of mind, personal preference, dissatisfaction with appearance, or a decision that a selected item does not look as expected will not be treated as a defect where the item supplied and installed matches the agreed specification and has been fitted with reasonable care and skill.

7.6 If a customer requests a replacement, alteration or removal of an item that was supplied and installed in accordance with the agreed specification, the customer will be responsible for the reasonable costs of replacement materials, labour, delivery, disposal and any associated remedial works.

7.7 If an item is faulty, incorrectly supplied, materially different from the agreed specification, unsafe, or has been installed without reasonable care and skill, we will inspect the issue and take reasonable steps to put it right in line with the customer’s legal rights.

7.8 We recommend that customers view samples, supplier information and, where possible, products in person before making a final selection.

8. Variations and Additional Work

8.1 Any change to the agreed scope of work requested by the customer may result in additional charges.

8.2 We will provide a price for additional work before proceeding where reasonably possible.

8.3 If urgent work is required to make the site safe, prevent damage or allow the agreed works to continue, we may carry out reasonable necessary work and notify you as soon as possible.

9. Snagging, Defects and Concerns After Completion

9.1 We want customers to be happy with completed work. If you believe there is a problem with our workmanship, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

9.2 For minor snagging items or concerns visible on completion, please notify us within 7 days of completion where possible.

9.3 For issues that may not be immediately visible, please notify us within a reasonable time after discovering them and provide photographs or videos where possible.

9.4 We will be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the issue and, where we are responsible, to repair or rectify it.

9.5 You must not arrange for another contractor to carry out remedial work without first giving us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and resolve the issue, except where urgent action is necessary to prevent injury, significant property damage or an emergency.

9.6 If we attend to inspect or complete remedial work, we may take photographs, videos and written records of the condition, findings, work completed and testing carried out.

9.7 Completion of remedial or snagging work confirms only that the specific reported issue has been inspected and addressed. Any future concern will be assessed separately.

9.8 Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights.

10. Damage and Liability

10.1 We hold appropriate insurance for the work we carry out.

10.2 If we cause damage through our negligence or failure to use reasonable care and skill, we will take reasonable steps to put matters right.

10.3 We are not responsible for damage or loss caused by pre-existing defects, hidden conditions, customer instructions, unsuitable surfaces or materials, third parties, weather or events outside our reasonable control.

10.4 We will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses such as loss of income, loss of use, inconvenience or business interruption, except where the law does not allow this limitation.

11. Cancellations and Rearrangements

11.1 If you need to cancel or rearrange a booking, please give us as much notice as possible.

11.2 For booked works involving ordered materials, hired equipment, specialist machinery or allocated labour, we may retain or charge reasonable costs already incurred where cancellation is made after these costs have been committed.

11.3 We will always aim to keep any cancellation charge fair and proportionate to the actual costs we have incurred.

12. Photographs and Marketing

12.1 We may take before, during and after photographs or videos of work for job records, quality control, quotations, insurance, training and evidence of completed work.

12.2 We may use photographs of completed work for our website, social media or advertising, provided they do not identify you or your address without your permission.

13. Complaints

13.1 If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us directly first so we can try to resolve the matter promptly and fairly.

13.2 Please provide details of the issue, photographs where relevant, and a clear description of the outcome you are seeking.

13.3 We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Service-Specific Terms

A. Exterior Cleaning, Gutter Clearing, Fascia and Soffit Cleaning

A.1 Exterior cleaning results can vary depending on the age, condition and type of surface, previous coatings, staining, algae, moss, lichen, traffic film, rust, paint, sealants and weathering.

A.2 We cannot guarantee that all stains, marks, biological growth, discolouration or ingrained dirt will be fully removed.

A.3 Gutter clearing removes accessible debris from gutters and downpipes where possible. It does not guarantee that underground drains, concealed pipework or inaccessible sections are free flowing.

A.4 Older gutters, brackets, joints, seals, fascias, soffits and downpipes may be brittle, loose, worn, poorly fitted or already damaged. We are not responsible for failures caused by their pre-existing condition.

A.5 Where we identify a visible issue such as a leak, loose bracket, broken joint, damaged downpipe or rotten timber, we will advise you where reasonably possible. Any repair work is separate unless included in the quotation.

A.6 Cleaning can expose defects, leaks, faded finishes or damage that was previously concealed by dirt or debris.

B. Pressure Washing and Jet Washing

B.1 Pressure washing may remove surface dirt, algae, moss, weeds and loose material. Results vary depending on the age and condition of the surface.

B.2 Pressure washing can reveal existing loose pointing, damaged mortar, unstable paving, cracked blocks, loose coatings, worn tarmac, poor previous repairs or weak surfaces.

B.3 We are not responsible for damage caused by pre-existing defects, poor installation, weak materials, loose joints, unstable paving, damaged sealants or unsuitable surfaces.

B.4 Re-sanding, sealing, weed treatment or re-pointing is only included where specifically stated in the quotation.

B.5 Some staining, tyre marks, oil marks, rust marks, paint, cement staining and deep-set discolouration may not be fully removable.

C. Fascia, Soffit, Gutter and Downpipe Installations / Repairs

C.1 Installation and repair work is based on visible inspection and accessible areas. Hidden rot, defective roof edges, damaged rafters, unsuitable fixings, poor previous workmanship or concealed structural issues may only become apparent once work begins.

C.2 If additional work is required due to hidden defects or unsuitable existing materials, we will explain the issue and agree any additional cost before proceeding where reasonably possible.

C.3 New guttering and downpipes are fitted to encourage normal water flow. Performance can still be affected by extreme rainfall, blocked underground drainage, building movement, roof design, debris, poor existing falls or defects outside the agreed scope.

C.4 Customers must report any concern about leaks, overflowing gutters, loose fittings or workmanship promptly so that we can inspect and rectify any issue for which we are responsible.

C.5 We are not responsible for water ingress or drainage problems caused by defects in the roof, walls, underground drains, existing pipework, building structure or areas not included in our work.

D. Groundworks, Excavation, Concrete Bases and External Building Work

D.1 Ground conditions, buried services, drainage, soil type, access restrictions and weather can affect timescales, methods and costs.

D.2 Unless specifically agreed in writing, customers are responsible for providing accurate information about underground services, boundaries, permissions, planning requirements and building control requirements.

D.3 We will take reasonable care when excavating, but we cannot be responsible for unmarked or incorrectly marked underground services or unknown obstructions.

D.4 Concrete, paving, drainage and groundwork finishes may have natural variation in colour, texture and appearance.

D.5 Hairline cracking, minor surface variation and weather-related changes can occur in concrete and are not automatically evidence of defective workmanship.

E. General Repairs, Maintenance and Building Work

E.1 Repair work is limited to the agreed scope. We cannot guarantee the condition or future performance of areas, materials or systems outside that scope.

E.2 Repairs to older properties may reveal further defects once materials are removed or accessed.

E.3 Where a repair is made to an existing item, the repaired area may not exactly match surrounding materials in colour, finish or age.

F. Access Equipment and Tower Scaffolding

F.1 Where tower scaffolding or other access equipment is used, the customer must keep the area clear and prevent unauthorised access.

F.2 We may suspend work if access equipment cannot be used safely due to weather, ground conditions, obstruction, interference or unsafe site conditions.

F.3 Access equipment is provided solely for our agreed works unless otherwise agreed in writing.

14. Governing Law

14.1 These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
